Southern Cross Schools is committed to academic excellence and is fortunate to have attracted the skills of highly regarded and experienced teaching staff drawn from all over South Africa. The College has an exceptional academic record, having achieved a 100% pass rate for Grade 12 IEB Examinations each year since the school first sat them in 2011.
The schools commitment to academics is reflected in outstanding matric results with several learners securing multiple distinctions each year. Most recently Dux Scholar, Alexis Mes, achieved eight distinctions for her Grade 12 examinations and placed first in Limpopo and Mpumalanga of all IEB learners.
The school is ISASA registered and offers the National CAPS Curriculum of South Africa. Our learners write the IEB Exams and depending on the subject combinations they choose they could walk into any of the major fields that would take them to become captains of industry.
Southern Cross offers everything you expect from an Independent School more. All learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 are allocated a mentor teacher who closely monitors your child’s academic performance. If learners are struggling with a particular subject or are experiencing difficulties with any aspect of the curriculum these issues are proactively identified and managed by their mentor in communication with the parents, the respective subject teachers, and the College Head. The school offers an individualised approach ensuring each learner realises their potential.
Southern Cross Schools prides itself on its excellent academic standards. Our dedicated teachers strive to provide the best education and present our learners with a wide variety of learning areas, inside and outside of the classrooms.Our teachers attend regular workshops, meetings, demonstrations, displays and lectures to equip them to stay at the forefront of their specific learning areas.
The learners are exposed to a number of academic courses and competitions to inspire and help them to excel in certain learning areas. Amongst others, some of the competitions are the English Olympiad, Entrepreneurs Competitions and Science ExposOur IT centre is used to keep the learners up-to-date with the latest technology. Our school’s language policy is in line with the Language in Education Policy in Terms of Section 3(4) (m) of the National Education Policy Act, 1996 (Act 27 of 1996). During school all announcements, correspondence and assemblies are conducted in English.
