Rhythmical drumbeats reverberate through the African bush surrounding Southern Cross Schools. These musical vibrations stir emotions embedded deep within the primordial soul. There is something special almost spiritual in the rhythms of an African drumbeat. Drumming plays an integral part in the lives of the learners at Southern Cross. From an early age children learn the intricacies of drumming on traditional handmade African drums. The senior drummers have developed into an awesome performing group and are regularly invited to play at school assemblies, formal school functions and even at events in and around Hoedspruit.
